An owner of a Chicago based systems integration firm writes, “Even though the economy is in a bad state, we have been busier than ever. I have stated over and over again, “bad economy equals more crime.”
It’s important to understand that in the security industry, the vast majority of security projects are retro-fits and upgrades, not new construction projects. Many dealers are focusing their energies in these areas. Whatever slow-down dealers are facing with building job-starts, they are not seeing with retro-fits and upgrades. The need for security products is not reduced.
Also of significance is another fact: security purchases are event driven, much in the same manner the demand for caskets are. Workplace and campus violence events, robberies and shop-lifting are such triggers. Again, the need for security products is not reduced. |
